In the now legendary República de las Bananas, a corrupt military dictatorship rules whose members are only interested in money and power. In Junta, the classic board game, their means range from intrigue to revolution. At the beginning, the president is “elected”, who draws the (unknown) budget from the pile of money, then appoints his 6 cabinet members and gives them part of his budget. Of course, some ministers are not happy with their income, and so there is a lot of intrigue and finally, logically, the junta is rehearsed and the president is overthrown! He can keep all the money he was able to transfer to a Swiss numbered account before his overthrow. Then a new president is elected and the game begins again. The winner, of course, is whoever has accumulated the most money in their own Swiss bank account at the end of the game, as is tradition in military dictatorships! The board game Junta, brimming with black humor, has been a hit for over 30 years and was praised highly in the New York Times and the Washington Post when it was first released.
